What's New On Ithaca Greece
June 2025
Thursday 26th - It's Summer! It's watermelon season! In the back street of Ithaca's capital of Vathy, you'll find Padazis Fruit and Veg market.
As we head fast forward into July in less than a week, we have a heatwave leading our way with high 30's temperatures on the island and into the 40's on the mainland. Drink lots of water and stay in the shade. These temps are not for tanning.
Above - With these hot temperatures and winds, it's imperative people do as much as they can to clear their land plots.
Above - Returnees to Ithaca make up a big population of Ithaca in the Summer months.
Above - If you want some waves, the best place for that is Afales Bay in the north of Ithaca Greece. Below - Kioni bay fills up more and more with yachts and the occasional Day Tripper boat bringing visitors for an hour or so from Kefalonia and Lefkada..

For us who try to keep our figures manageable, Ithacan bread is just too big of a tempation.
Sunday 29th - Greece in the middle of a heatwave. North to South, East to West. High 30's day after day and continuing into next week.

Summer on Ithaca
Thursday 26th
Kravoulia beaches in the north of Ithaca Greece have some of the most pristine waters to swim in.
Above - For all you smokers out there, please put those cigs out in an ashtray. A simple flick could mean we go up in smoke. All that lushness we've had over the colder months is beginning to dry out.
Above - I'm a big disappointed in what was done while clearing the brush away from the main road sides. There's alot of rockfall and I fear some erosion, which will have consequences in the rainy times. I don't mean rocks will fall on your head, nothing that drastic, but they do scatter over the road which can make for a hazardous drive when things get really busy on the island.
Above - There's nothing like that late afternoon, early evening gold, that blankets Vathy Bayside.
Sunday 29th - With the current heatwave, it's best to be in the shade or in the water.
