What's New On Ithaca Greece
April 2025
Tuesday 1st - Mild temperatures start off April for 2025. Spring is unfortunately hayfever time for many, and on Ithaca, there's a very high pollen count so stock up on garlic and horse radish supplements.
Friday 4th - Over the Winter, the Council has been busy fising roads and opening fire breakers in advance of the Summer, which by all accounts will be a hot one as usual. It's a good idea to be forever vigilant when it comes to fire protection. We have our little paradise to protect, so use your ashtrays and don't burn off unless permitted.
Friday 11th - It's been a busy quiet season for Ithaki with the road to Marmakas finally completed and the back road out of Exoghi, which has been a hope for residents for the longest time, has now also been done. There will also be fire drills before Summer to make sure everything is a ready as it can be. Let's hope cigarettes go in ashtrays and yachters don't bbq on beaches with any open flames.
Sunday 13th - With Easter just around the corner, everyone at ithacagreece.com has been struck down with the flu. Hopefully it passes quickly, not like with some other sufferers outlasting 10 days, so we can enjoy the Ithacan Easter celebrations as we have every year since 2003. While I'm still able to sit upright, I thought I better do an update before I can't.
There is no village more spectacular in Spring than Exoghi. Wild flowers and a view to die for.
Wednesday 16th - There's alot of flu going around Ithaca and unfortunately we've managed to catch it too, so Easter may not happen for us this year.
Wednesday 23rd - Sorry it's been so quiet around here, but the flu has had us locked away with 41 degree fevers. Not something we want to pass around. We should be back to normal in a couple of days. Meanwhile go down memory lane through the archives. It's alot of fun to revisit Ithaca in it's younger days. We are quite sad missing the first Easter since 2003 (except for covid lockdowns of course, when we all missed it.)
Saturday 26th - Looks like it will be another long hot Summer with temperatures edging their way up into the mid 20's. Everything on Ithaca is so lush and green, bursting with colour under the blue skies over the Ionian. Below - Exoghi.

Springtime on Ithaca
Tuesday 1st
Seems like the rains have passed over for now, but overcast skies remain here and there.
Friday 4th - The signs of Spring are everywhere and now with daylight saving, the days are longer to enjoy the milder weather.
Friday 11th - Right now Ithaca is in it's absolutely gorgeous green and lush state, wild flowers everywhere, increasing blue skies. As the rains stop and Summer begins to set in, drying up all this lushness, we all need to be careful not to start any fires. We've been very lucky these past years.
Sunday 13th - As we've previously mentioned, the 2nd road leading from Exoghi has now been cut and ready to tar. It's a big sense of security for Exoghi villagers now able to have more than 1 way out of the village.
Wednesday 16th -
Wednesday 23rd - Free concert in Perahori on Friday 2nd May which just happens to be ithacagreece.com's birthday.
Saturday 26th - We're really just a breath away from the end of the month with May and the season ahead, awaiting us. We expect to see many, many new faces and of course all the regular faces too, whether they come from mainland Greece or from lands far away. One thing is for sure, a stay on Ithaca brings a little magic to everyone's holiday. It's no wonder people choose to return again and again. Below - Exoghi with views to the Ionian and beyond.
